Tragedy :(

I participated in antakshari competition which was held during our annual day (Infotsav ).must say i was pretty excited abt it..
i was confident right from the beginning that i/we wud win..
there were supposed to be 4 members in each team.
So sirisha,kartik,vinay and I particiapted..
we sent in our nominations on the very first day when we received a mail from HR department.They received many nominations than they themselves had anticipated .We had to clear a written test to make into the semifinals..
huh!!! sounds strange right !!! yea even i was stupefied seeing so many interested participants.The place where the competition was being conducted had a carnival atmosphere. Anyways the paper was quite easy.we scored 3rd highest in it..
A total of 16 teams were slected for semifinals from around 40-45 teams that had participated.in the semifinal we played too good and stood first. The rounds were pretty exciting .We had the normal antakshari round, then the dhun round, the situation round, antara mukhada round, jumbled up phrases and so on.sirisha, kartik and myself were strong with hindi songs and vinay alone handled the telugu stream. he was real gud in it. all the points tht we had made in the telugu rounds was bcoz of him ..And sirsha and kartik ...they are born alka yagnik and sonu nigam.. This made our team look even more colourful.We scored the highest and the maximum that 1 cud score,ie cent % .
We won. bingo!!!!
The finals were supposed to be a week later.we waited 4 the d-day to arrive with much gusto .i had gone through the sites to know the lyrics of various hindi songs byheart. There were 6 of them who were selected from 16 for the finals.

The competition started. we cleared each and every round..There were 3 teams who were lagging behind us. Finallyy came the last round. wherein if we would score the 20pts which was the max tht any1 cud score in tht round, we wud win.I already cud sense the victory within me. Oh btw, lemme tell u about the last round.It was a visual round. they would show a song in the mute mode and we had to recognize the movie name and sing the song .. atleast 2-4 lines..That accounted to 20 points..
We got a hindi movie..i was almost sure that we would win..

Off late the whole country is dancing to the tunes of the film "aashique banaya aapne.."
well in the same movie there is another song named "aap ki kashish.."
ths was actually is 1 of my favsss..i knew the lyrics but at the same time was not confident enough tht i wud sing it properly.and wht do i c it was the same movie and the same song.we got 10 pts to recognize the movie . And had to sing tht song next.None of my team mates knew abt this song or the lyrics.. somehow i managed to sing..
lemme tell u i sang, although was very nervous within.. Generally u tend to get nervous when u ought to speak or tell on something tht u ureself r not sure abt..
well i completed the song and waited for the host and judge say yes, ie to nod their head in approval.. they did and i was kinda shocked tht wow!!!!! we won..
but alas !!! a guy from the audience came up and said tht in the second line i made a mistake .it was not khumaar but madhosh ..

huh!!! so we didnt get our 10 points, the teams who were 10 pts lagging , covered up by getting 20 pts in this round..
i was devastrated.. i know its just a small competiotion. but competitions r meant to be won not lose.. As much as i remember any competition tht i have ever particiapted in i never lost.Anyways then began the tie.. All of us were given hindi dhun to identify.each of us did.The competition and the tie was getting stiffer and stiffer. We had 1 more round . This was to identify the telugu dhun.By this time i got a premonition tht we are gonna loose.
well !!!! we lost :( i still donno which was tht telugu dhun tht they played, neither did any1 from the audience were able to identify it.. the other 2 teams also cudnt identify their respective dhuns, and the final team did and they won..
it was pathetic.not tht we lost but the kind with which we lost.
u call it like "just narrowly missed"
huh!!! just tht 1 word made the entire difference..
the moment i think abt it , i just get engulfed with frustration . from tht day onwards i daily recollect tht event and try putting an end to it. " wht if i wud have sung correctly.. wht if i wud have been given som other song which i knew .. wht if tht guy from the audience wudnt have come and pointed my mistake.. wht if.. wht if..."

but how much ever interesting ending i make its gonna be just in my thoughts, coz tht event has finished..
i was soo low the next weekk..I just solaced myself telling tht he was a friend of our competing team and obviously had shown favourism..
Actually speaking the final round was no longer a competition .. it turned out to b a fight and the stage a battlefield and i had intented to win it but lost... :(
well i wud consider this as my biggest tragedy in life..
Even b4 playing the game i was visualizing our team being the winner and the smiles on our faces..
But am still not able to shrug off the sadness tht has hung around me :(
